Our History

It was the 1st birthday party that the sensory gym was hosting. After four months of being open , a long time member was turning 11 in January of 2022. About an hour in, candles blown out, and laughter filling the gym, the father of the birthday boy knocked on the office window. He proceeded to tell the owners, Christeen and Dustin, something that has stuck with the owners for months. This birthday party was the first time in 11 years the family was able to celebrate outside of the safety of their own house. He emotionally professed how grateful he was to finally have a place that they could go, not be judged or nervous to be in a public space, and that their family members, cousins, and classmates could enjoy and connect for their son's special day.

The following months, the idea was brewing in their minds. "What if we can provide more experiences like this using our unique space?" they thought. Observing how the community used the space was the deciding factor that Christeen and Dustin had something more than just a sensory gym. What they saw was families naturally connecting with other families over resources. They admired the organic friendships that the members were creating in the Club and parents planning play dates. As word spread, mission-driven organizations and programs were utilizing the safe space for family gatherings and community events, having the comfort of know they are in an environment made for their population. The only thing that was missing was the accessibility. These experiences should be free, accessible, and fun. 

Club Create was founded to provide opportunities for all ages with diverse needs to connect with each other and create new skills, experiences, and friends. Through the non-profit, fundraising efforts will provide free access to art and music classes, unique events like movie nights or monthly birthday buddy celebrations, caregiver meet and greets, provider resource fairs, all ages yoga sessions, open fitness classes, and so much more! All events/classes are tailored for the participant's needs and open to all ages. The Sensory Club Denver is proud to be part of the special needs community as a space for the neurodiverse community. With Club Create, the possibilities for programming and unique experiences are endless.
